Assembly:
- Refer to the image below to fussy cut (3) panels together, with ¾” of background on each side and top edge. Leave ½” of background on the bottom edge.
- Fold in each short side of (1) Fabric B pocket strip, 3/8” and press. Fold the edge again up to the white trim on the animal block edge and press to create a finished edge.
- Fold in the top edge of (1) Fabric B pocket strips 3/8” and press. Fold the top edge again up to the white trim on the animal block and press.
Topstitch along the top edge to create a finished edge.
- Fold the bottom edge up to the white trim on the bottom of the animal blocks and press.
This should create finished edges on all four sides of the pocket strip.
- Fold under the first animal block on (1) pocket strip, up to the white border on the second animal block and press.
This creates the first crease of the box pocket.
- Bring the first creased edge over to the white border on the first animal block to align the two white edges.
Press down to create a second crease under the middle animal square.
This will create the left box crease.
- Repeat Steps 5-6 to make the right box crease on the pocket strip.
- Repeat Steps 2-7 to the remaining (2) Fabric B strips to make a total of three Pocket Strips.
- Following the manufacturer’s instructions, press the fusible fleece to the wrong side of the 24 ½” x 32 ½” Fabric A piece.
- Center the middle pocket strip to the center of the Fabric A piece. It should be 1-1/2” from each side of the Fabric A piece.
Make sure the pleats are tucked under the middle panel.
Pin the pocket in place.
- Stitch down the box pleat, as shown on each side of the middle panel to divide into three pockets.
- Topstitch down each side of the pocket strip and across the bottom to secure the pocket unit to the background.
- Position the top pocket 2” above the middle pocket and the bottom pocket unit, 2” below the middle pocket. Stitch the top and bottom pockets in place.
- Fold in the short ends of (1) 2” x 20” Fabric C strip, 1/4” and press.
- Fold the Fabric C strip in half lengthwise and press.
- Open the folded strip and align each long side edge with the center crease and press.
- Fold the Fabric strip in half again to make (1) 1/2" x 20” strip and press.
- Topstitch down each long side and along the short ends to make (1) Tie.
- Repeat Steps 14-18 to make (4) ½” x 20” Fabric C ties for the Catch-All.
- Fold each tie in half and align the folded edge even with the top edge of the catch all and clip in place, aligning the ties with the pocket edges as shown.
- Top stitch the ties in place with an 1/8” seam allowance to complete the Catch-All Front.
- Place the 24 ½” x 32 ½” backing piece on top of the Catch-All Front, right sides together, aligning the raw edges. Make sure the ties are between the two layers and out of the way of the seams. Clip the two halves together. Sew them together using a ¼” seam allowance, leaving a 3”-4” at the bottom opening for turning.
- Turn the sewn Catch-All right side out through the opening and press.
- Topstitch around the Catch-All. This should also close the opening at the bottom to complete the Catch-All.
And you're all finished. Add this beautiful and functional fabric art to your little one's crib!
