Pet Treat Bag Instructions

Create Pattern Piece

  • Draw a rectangle 14.5" x 8"
  • Remove squares from the long edges 2" x 2"
  • Mark 1" long belt carrier placement lines 3" down and 3" in from top corners
  • Mark a second set of belt carrier placement lines 1.5" down from first set
  • Mark velcro placement line 1.5" down from center of top

Cut Fabric and Interfacing

  • Cut one pattern piece from main fabric
  • Cut one pattern piece from lining fabric
  • Cut one pattern piece from interfacing (mid-weight woven recommended)
  • Transfer placement lines to fabric
  • Cut 2.5" x 3.5" strip from contrast
  • Cut 2.5" x (length of waist+ 11")
  • Cut (length of waist+ 10") of 1" belting/webbing
  • Cut 1" strip of no sew velcro

Prep

  • Apply interfacing to wrong side of fabric
  • Apply iron-on vinyl or liquid vinyl to lining for waterproof interior

Sewing Bag

  • Fold fabric in half, right sides together matching 8" sizes
  • Sew along side seams
  • To make left side box corner, fold fabric so that left side seam is lined up with center fold line. Sew along raw edges
  • Repeat step 3 for right side

Sewing Belt Carriers

  • Fold carrier fabric in half right sides together matching 2.5" sides
  • Sew at 1/4" seam allowances
  • Turn right side out
  • Press seam centered along back
  • Cut in half
  • Sew one end along seamline on top placement line
  • Fold down and press
  • Fold other end along seam line and edgestitch to bag along bottom placement line

Sewing Lining

  • Repeat steps d1-d4 for lining
  • Attach velcro pieces
  • Place lining into fabric right sides together. Sew along top edge leaving a 3" opening for turning.
  • Turn bag through opening.

Sewing Belt

  • Fold belt fabric in half right sides together matching long sides
  • Sew at 1/4" seam allowances
  • Turn right side out
  • Press seam centered along back
  • Feed belting through tube
  • Fold ends to inside of tube wrong sides together and edgestitch

Finishing

  • Feed belt through carriers
  • Tie around waist
  • Fill with treats and hit the streets
