Strawberry Pillows Instructions:
1. Fold Fabric A piece, right sides together. Trace the Large Strawberry Template onto one side. Cut on the drawn line through both layers of fabric to cut the Large Strawberry front and back pieces.
2. Fold Fabric B piece, right sides together. Trace the Large Leaf Template onto one side, three times. (Image 4)
3. Cut on the drawn lines through both layers of fabric to cut out (3) sets of leaves.
4. Sew around each set of leaves with a ¼” seam allowance, leaving a 2” opening for turning. Turn the leaves right side out. (see image above)
5. Stuff each leaf with a small amount of poly fill. Only add enough to give the leaf some shape not enough to stuff it full. Whip stitch the opening closed. (see image above)
6. Place (2) 2 ½” x 3 ½” Fabric B pieces right sides together. Sew up each long side and across one short side. Turn the stem, right side out and stuff with polyfill to make the Large Stem. (Image 6)
7. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace (8) Large Dots onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about 1/8” outside the drawn lines.
8. Press the traced dots onto the wrong side of Fabric C. Cut out each template on the drawn lines. (see image above)
9. Refer to the pillow photo below to arrange and press the (8) Fabric C dots onto the right side of the Strawberry Front Piece.
10. Using an open toe foot for your sewing machine and matching thread, finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch.
11. Position the three leaves on the strawberry front 3/8” from the top edge of the strawberry as desired and pin in place.
12. Using matching thread, sew down the center of each leaf about 2/3 of the way down to attach it to the Strawberry Front.
13. Position the stem at the top of the strawberry front, aligning the raw edges. Pin the stem in place.
14. Place the Strawberry back piece on top of the strawberry front pieces with the stem in the middle. Align the raw edges of the two Strawberry pieces and clip the layers together.
15. Using a ¼” seam allowance, sew around the two layers, leaving a 3” opening for turning.
16. Turn the sewn unit right side out through the opening.
17. Stuff the pillow with poly fill to the desired fullness.
Fold in the raw edges at the opening and pin the opening closed. Use a whipstitch to sew the opening closed to complete the Large Strawberry.
18. To make the small pillow, repeat Steps 1-17 with the Small Strawberry, leave and dot templates using Fabric C, D and E.
Thanks for following along with the Strawberry Pillow tutorial. This playful design, created by Heidi Pridemore, comes together easily and adds a light, cheerful touch to any room. Whether you’re making it as a gift or to brighten up your own space, it’s a fun, approachable project that’s easy to customize. I hope you enjoyed making it and feel inspired to try your own variations.
