Are you ready for some summer fun and travel? How about making some very stylish accessories for your next trip? I have designed this super easy and fun set of accessories for your adventure. First, we have a passport or document portfolio for your travel papers. There are multiple pockets to keep you organized. Next up are the super quick and easy luggage tags. I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for one of these right before a trip. Finally, we are making a zipper pouch big enough to hold your small travel items.

Wild and Free-Multi Fat 1/8 (.11m)
Jungle Magic-Lime Fat 1/4 (.23m)
Peaches and Cream-Peach Fat 1/4 (.23m)
Stabilizer (Pellon® DecorBond #809) 1/4 yard (.23m)
Luggage Tags Equipment needed:
Basketweave-Olive 1/4 yard (.23m)
Strawberry Ice-Pink 1/4 yard (.23m)
Rangoon Creeper-Aqua 1/4 yard (.23m)
Stabilizer (Pellon® Décor-Bond #809) 1/4 yard (.23m)
Clear Vinyl 1/4 yard (.23m)

Blue Lagoon-Multi 1/4 yard (.23m)
Strawberry Ice-Pink 1/8 yard (.11m)
Basketweave-Olive 1/3 yard (.30m)
Bosal™ In-R-Foam Double Sided Fusible Foam Stabilizer (493-18) 1/3 yard (.30m)
Matching Zipper 10” (25.4cm)
For all three projects, you will also need:

Passport Cover Instructions
From the Wild and Free-Multi (A), cut:
- (1) 5 3/4" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 5 3/4" x 8" strips and (1) 2 1/2" x 5 3/4" strip.
From the Jungle Magic-Lime (B), cut:
- (1) 5 3/4" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (1) 5 3/4" x 8” strip, (1) 2 3/4" x 5 3/4" strip, (1) 2 1/4" x 5 3/4" strip and (1) 1 3/4” x 5 3/4” strip.
From the Peaches and Cream-Peach (C), cut:
- (1) 5 3/4" x WOF strips. Sub-cut (1) 2" x 5 3/4" strip, (1) 2 1/2" x 5 3/4" strip and (1) 3" x 5 3/4" strip.
- (2) 2 1/2” x 18” strips for binding
From the Fusible Stabilizer, cut:
- (2) 5 3/4" x 8" strip.
- (1) 2 3/4" x 5 3/4" strip.
- (2) 2 1/4" x 5 3/4" strips.
- (1) 1 3/4" x 5 3/4" strips.
Passport Assembly
1. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, press one 5 3/4” x 8” piece of stabilizer to the wrong side of the 5 3/4” x 8” Fabric A piece to make Unit 1. Repeat with the 5 3/4” x 8” Fabric B piece Unit 2.
2. Layer (1) 2 1/4" x 5 3/4" fusible stabilizer with (1) 2 1/2" x 5 3/4" Fabric A strip, aligning the left edges and press the stabilizer to the wrong side of the Fabric A strip. Fold and press the excess 1/4" of the Fabric A strip along the right edge to the wrong side of the stabilizer to make (1) Unit 3 strip with a finished edge. Repeat with the following pairs.
- (1) 3” x 5 3/4” Fabric C strip and (1) 2 3/4” x 5 3/4" stabilizer to make (1) Unit 4 strip.
- (1) 2 1/2" x 5 3/4" Fabric C strip and (1) 2 1/4" x 5 3/4” stabilizer to make (1) Unit 5 strip.
- (1) 2” x 5 3/4" Fabric C strip and (1) 1 3/4" x 5 3/4” stabilizer to make (1) Unit 6 strip.
3. Top-stitch the folded edge of each of the strips in Step 2 to complete the Units 3-6 strips.
4. Place the Unit 1 piece wrong side up on a flat surface. Place the Unit 2 piece on top of the Unit 1 piece with the right side facing up, so the pieces are wrong sides together.
5. Align the Fabric Unit 5 strip with the left side of the Unit 2 piece, with the finished edge towards the center of the Unit 2 piece; pin in place.
6. Align the Unit 4 strip with the right side of the Unit 2 edge, with the finished edge towards the center of the Unit 2 piece.
7. Place the Unit 3 strip on top of the Unit 4 piece, aligning the right side.
8. Place the Unit 6 strip on top of the Unit 3 strip, aligning the right side.
9. Clip the five layers together on the right side.
10. Use a 1/8" seam and sew around the four sides of the edges.
11. Using your favorite method and (2) 2 1/2" x WOF Fabric A strips, bind the edge of the passport cover to complete.
Luggage Tags Instructions- to make 3
Cutting Instructions:
From the Strawberry Ice-Pink (D), cut:
- (1) 3 1/2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 3 1/2" x 5" strips, (2) 2 1/2” x 4”, (2) 2 1/2" x 3 1/4", and (1) 1 1/2" x 18" strip for Tag #1.
From the Basketweave Olive (E), cut:
- (1) 3 1/2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 3 1/2" x 5" strips, (2) 2 1/2” x 4”, (2) 2 1/2" x 3 1/4", and (1) 1 1/2" x 18" strip for Tag #1.
From the Rangoon Creeper-Aqua (F), cut:
- (1) 3 1/2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 3 1/2" x 5" strips, (2) 2 1/2” x 4”, (2) 2 1/2" x 3 1/4", and (1) 1 1/2" x 18" strip for Tag #1.
From the Fusible Stabilizer, cut:
- (3) 3 1/2" x 5" strips.
From the Vinyl, cut:
- (3) 2 3/4" x 4" strips.
Luggage Tag Assembly
- Following the manufacturer's instructions, press (1) 3 1/2” x 5” piece of fusible stabilizer to the wrong side of (1) 3 1/2” x 5” Fabric D strip.
2. Fold (1) 1 1/2” x 18” Fabric D strip in half lengthwise and press. Unfold the strip and fold each long edge to align with the centerline; press. Fold the strip again and press to make (1) 3/8” x 18” strip. Topstitch down each side of the folded strip to complete Unit 1.
3. Fold in the short sides of (1) 2 1/2” x 3 1/4" Fabric D piece 1/4" toward the center and press. Fold the D strip in half lengthwise and press. Unfold the strip and fold each long edge to align with the centerline and press. Fold the strip again and press to make (1) 5/8” x 2 3/4” strip with finished edges on all four sides. Repeat with the second 2 1/2” x 3 1/4" Fabric D strip to make (2) Unit 2 strips.
4. Fold (1) 2 1/2” x 4” Fabric D strip in half lengthwise and press. Unfold the strip and fold each long edge to align with the centerline and press. Fold the strip again and press to make (1) 5/8” x 4” strip. Repeat with the second 2 1/2” x 4" Fabric D strip to make (2) Unit 3 strips.
5. Center the Unit 1 strip along the short side of (1) 3 1/2” x 5” Fabric D strip, right sides together, and clip in place. Place the second 3 1/2” x 5” Fabric D strip on top, right sides together, and clip together. Make sure to clip the Unit 1 strip out of the way of the edges before sewing.
6. Sew around the pinned layers, leaving a small opening along one long side for turning.
7. Clip the corners to reduce the bulk in the seams and turn the sewn unit right side out through the opening to make the Luggage Tag back piece.
8. Slide the long edge of the 2 ¾” x 4” vinyl into (1) folded Unit 3 strip. Make sure to push the vinyl all the way into the fold. Clip the pieces together. Repeat with the second Unit 3 folded strip and the other long edge of the vinyl. Topstitch each strip in place along the inner edges.
9. Slide the short edge of the 2 ¾” x 4” vinyl into (1) Unit 2 strip. Make sure to push the vinyl all the way into the fold. Clip the pieces together. Repeat with the second Unit 2 folded strip and the other short edge of the vinyl. Topstitch each strip in place along the inner edges to complete the Luggage Tag front piece.
10. Position the Luggage Tag front on top of the Luggage Tag back, with the right side up on both pieces. Align the two sides and bottom edges of the two pieces and clip them together. Topstitch the front piece to the back piece along the outer edge to complete the luggage tag.
11. Repeat Steps 13-22 to make the remaining two luggage tags.
Zipper Pouch Instructions
From the Blue Lagoon-Multi (G), cut:
- (1) 6 1/2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips and (2) 1 1/2" x 2” strips
From the Strawberry Ice (H), cut:
- (1) 3 1/2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 3 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips.
From the Basketweave-Olive (I), cut:
- (1) 9 1/2" x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips.
From the Bag Foam, cut:
- (2) 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips.
Zipper Pouches Assembly
1. Sew (1) 3 1/2" x 12 1/2" Fabric H strip to the bottom of (1) 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" Fabric I strip to make Unit 1 piece. Repeat to make a second Unit 1 piece.
2. Fold (1) 1 ½” x 2” Fabric G strip in half widthwise. Fold in each short end ¼” and press to make (1) Zipper End. Repeat to make a second Zipper End.
3. Slide one short end of the zipper all the way into the fold of (1) Zipper End and topstitch in place. Trim the sides of the Zipper End even with the sides of the Zipper.
4. Align the Zipper End/Zipper unit along the long side of (1) Unit 1 piece and mark the end of the zipper that does not have a Zipper End, even with the Unit 1 piece. Make sure the Zipper Head is pulled to the middle of the zipper and trim the end of the zipper even with the bag edge to make (1) 12 1/2" Zipper Unit.
5. Repeat Step 26 with the trimmed end of the Zipper and the remaining Zipper End to complete the Zipper Unit.
6. Following the Manufacturer’s instructions, attach the Bag foam to the wrong side of each Unit 1 piece and set aside.
7. Place (1) 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" Fabric I strip on a flat surface, right side up. Align the long edge with the top edge of the zipper, with both pieces, right side up. Use a washout glue stick to glue the wrong side of the zipper top edge to the long edge of the Fabric I strip.
8. Place (1) Unit 1 piece, right side down on the zipper, with the Fabric G edge at the top. Use washable glue to glue the Unit 1 piece to the Zipper.
9. Using a zipper foot, sew the three layers together. Flip the sewn unit right side out (Fig. 22).
10. Place the second 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" Fabric I strip on a flat surface, Place the other side of the zipper on top of the Fabric I piece right side up, aligning the top edges.
11. Place the second Unit 1 piece and glue in place.
12. Using a zipper foot, sew the three layers together. Flip the sewn unit right side out
13. Flip the sewn unit right side out so there is a Unit 1 and a Fabric I piece on each side of the zipper. Topstitch through the layers to finish the zipper.
14. Unzip the zipper halfway to create an opening for turning. Flip the Unit 1 pieces, right side together and the Fabric I pieces right sides together, aligning the edges on both halves and pin.
15. Stitch around the Unit 1 side and Fabric I sides, leaving a 3" to 4" opening on the Fabric I side for turning.
16. Measure in from the side edge 1 1/2" and up from the bottom edge, 1 1/2” at each bottom corner and draw a square. Cut out the square of fabric. Repeat with the remaining three corners.
17. Open the cut bottom and align the bottom seam with the side seam and sew the two edges together. Repeat with the other bottom corner to make the box bottom on the outer bag.
18. Repeat Step 40 with the two corners on the lining side of the bag.
19. Turn the zipper pouch right side out through the opening in the Fabric I side and through the open zipper. Stitch the lining opening closed and push the Fabric I side into the zipper pouch for the lining to complete the Zipper Bag.
