Cutting Directions:

* From the main fabric, cut out 2 stocking shapes so that they are facing opposite ways. (A good way to do this, is to fold the fabric and cut through 2 layers at once.)

* Repeat with the lining fabric to cut out 2 stocking shapes facing opposite ways.

* From any fabric, cut out a strip 2.5” x 5” for the hanging loop.

1. To make the hanging loop:

a. With the wrong sides of fabric facing, fold the hanging loop piece in half widthwise so that the 5” edges are touching. Press.
b. Unfold and fold each long raw edge in to meet the center line, wrong sides touching.
c. Then fold in half again, forming a miniature 4-fold strap.
d. Topstitch 1/8” along each folded edge to complete your hanging loop. Set aside.

2. Place both stocking lining pieces in front of you, right side up. Stack a main fabric stocking piece on top of each one, right side down.

3. Stitch the stocking pieces together along the top flat edge only, using a 1/4” seam allowance.

4. Open up the stocking pieces along the line you sewed.

5. Fold the hanging loop in half, so the raw edges are touching. Place the raw edges along the outer edge of the main fabric of one stocking panel (the loop should be facing IN towards the fabric), about 1/2” from the top, and pin or clip in place. Stitch across both sides of the loop 1/8” from the raw edge.

6. Clip the 2 stocking panels together with right sides facing and clip around the perimeter. Stitch around the clipped edges with a 1/4” seam, leaving a 2” hole for turning in the bottom of the lining fabric.

7. Turn the stocking right side out and press.

8. Use a hand sewing needle and thread to close the hole in the bottom of the lining.

9. Tuck the lining inside the stocking.

There you have it! These mini Christmas stockings are such a cute gift idea to make for your friends and family members, and they are such a petite size that nobody will say, “Oh, I already have a stocking.” They’ll love having them and will be able to reuse them for gift giving as well! Happy holidays and hope you have fun sewing these.
